I was introduced to the world of firearms at an early age. Our family enjoyed the great outdoors and my childhood consisted of countless camping and hunting trips throughout the Pacific Northwest. But before my dad would take my brother and I hunting, he made sure we knew the fundamentals of firearm safety. 

I enlisted in the US Army while still in high school. I was in the military for 4 years and during that time I was deployed to Korea. After serving my time with the Army I went back home to Sandy, OR and worked transporting US currency via armored car services. In 1995 I joined the Portland Police Bureau. 

During my 25 years with PPB, I worked as a Patrol Officer, Traffic Investigator, Crash Instructor for the State of Oregon as well as a Defensive Tactics Instructor. While working as a police officer, I attended many leadership and instructor development seminars which strengthened my skills as an instructor. I received my certification as an NRA instructor in several disciplines and was approved by the Department of Public Safety and Standards (DPSST) to certify law enforcement retirees for their LEOSA cards to carry concealed under HR218. 

I enjoy teaching and I found many opportunities to instruct in martial arts, pepper spray and firearm classes. Now that I am retired from PPB, I have more time to teach classes and help run our family business, Extreme Products. As a firearm instructor, it is my job to teach each student firearm safety, the proficiency to use a specific firearm, and the know-how and confidence to do so responsibly.
